The Borough - 'After Beauty' and 'Slip'

Grateful thanks to the editor, Clarence Caddell, for including my poems 'After Beauty' and 'Slip' in The Borough - Issue II, Southern Summer 2025.

The Borough aims "...to reinvigorate the art and craft of poetry in an Australian context by curating the best English verse being written today, showcasing a preponderance of under-appreciated local talent."

Note: 'After Beauty' is a procedural poem and 'Slip' responds to 'God's Grandeur' by Gerard Manley Hopkins. As is my won't, neither poem bears any reflection on my life, as I intentionally try to write myself out of my own poetry.

LDN, PAR, WIE

Pictures from a recent trip to London, Paris and Vienna, where I had the opportunity to catch up with old friends and poets Sam Riviere, Marina Dora Martino, Helena Fornells Nadal, and Tara Gunn, to finally see "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt in person, as well as a number of artworks by one of my favourite painters, Marc Chagall.

Best of Australian Poems 2024 - 'White Hibiscus'

Grateful thanks to Best of Australian Poems 2024 guest editors, Kate Lilley and Shastra Deo, for the inclusion of my poem 'White Hibiscus'.

'White Hibiscus' was written on Norfolk Island in response to the view above Cresswell Bay.

The Best of Australian Poems series is published by Australia's national poetry organisation, Australian Poetry, and features two different guest editors each year, to amplify the range of voices selected. It is funded by Creative Australia and individual patrons.
